Thanksgiving Thoughts

Give Thanks Soul CardDear Ones:

This week offers us a unique opportunity to draw closer to those we hold dear and also to the One who created and sustains us. There is no greater time than this to acknowledge and express our Oneness with each other and with all creation.

Last week, I set aside a day to be with friends. It was a beautiful experience, and a day we all profoundly appreciated. Sri Daya Mata says that even in our daily activities, we must never take for granted the Presence that flows through our relationships because it is a gift. When we cherish each other through laughter and friendship we are actually being cherished by the Divine Giver. We begin to resonate with love. Our collective consciousness is then uplifted when we hug another, or warmly acknowledge that person’s kindness.

Veteran’s Day Prayer

Dear Ones:

Today let’s recognize the sacrifices others have made to allow us to know freedom and safety. While we know war is not the answer to the issues of peoples or nations, let us bless our veterans who have endured bloodshed and war. Today, let’s open our hearts to those who give their time and courage so everyone can take one step closer to peace.  When our fears subside, wars will cease.

Yoga by Sunrise

A few years ago, my husband encouraged me to relax and escape the Michigan winter without any responsibilities. The Universe sensed my need for rest and recuperation from too much work. That evening, a friend telephoned me about a notice that had been posted at her yoga studio. A group was heading down to Isla Mujeres, Mexico for a yoga retreat and they were looking for participants. It looked great and I felt the timing was perfect. I signed up, had a great time, and made life-long friends.

Spiritual Transformation Begins Within

Yesterday, one of my dear friends talked about the importance of the New Thought movement where the goal of humanity is to realize its oneness. It is our purpose as teachers to help others manifest this idea in their personal lives.  Together, we observed the numerous people who diligently work to move themselves into higher levels of conscious awareness. They travel worldwide to attend spiritual programs that help forward their own growth, and then come home to show people the way of oneness by offering support and nurturing.

Accepting the responsibility of such spiritual leadership means we become an example. To reach out and uplift another means we offer encouragement to a person who meets resistance in their challenging experiences. Often helping someone move forward is more powerful than getting that individual to attend a workshop or a class, which we may think shifts a person to a new point of view or gives them a push in the “right” direction. As an inter-faith, inter-cultural community, who are we to say what will forward their spiritual growth? If we raise ourselves, doesn’t that mean we transform collective humanity?
