How can we expand our Christ Consciousness in Everyday Spiritual Practices?

prayerWhen Jesus said “follow me” he meant to follow his higher level of conscious awareness.  When we awaken and make that choice, we can achieve exactly what he did.

Affirmative prayer is the highest form of creative thought. It includes the release of counterproductive, negative thoughts as well as holding in your mind statements of spiritual truth. Through meditation, you can experience the presence of God. Prayer and meditation heighten your awareness and thereby transform lives.

Awareness is the key, no matter your spiritual practices, for example, meditation, prayer, Mauna, chakra clearing, or yoga. Also, work on being present. I think the greatest spiritual masters who have lived on this planet would remind us to turn off our text messaging and email while we are talking to people.  Be here now.  Fully behold that which is in front of you: a friend, a sunny day, walking the dog, counseling a friend in grief, or to whatever life is presenting, without any conditioning or suffering to take you away from the present.

Many Blessings,

I am Grateful for You

As a special ‘Thank You’ to all our readers, I am giving away the Kindle version of The Women’s Book of Empowerment. Click on this link to receive the book within the next five days!

It’s the time of year where we can reflect upon our experiences. The Oneness Gospel, my newest book, reached the top in Kindle in the Spiritual and Self-Help categories and won a Silver Nautilus award. In this interfaith book, the Oneness teachings I brought back from Fiji and India, as well as a contemporary look at the New Testament teachings, helped many people have a new perspective on their personal growth. I’m so thankful to all my readers who have shared with me how this piece has inspired them to lead lives that are open to more joy and wonder.

I’m also excited about all the dance memories and for the wonderful people I have come to cherish on the ballroom dance circuit. Blake and I have successfully won two of the three national leaderboards this season, and will complete our scores for the final dance circuit by mid-December. The opportunity to experience music, my body, a creative partnership, and dance as an art form with light and love has put me in a state of gratitude for all human expressions that are available to each and every one of us.

It seems all the ideas I asked the Universe to create with me have come into being, whether writing a book or moving on the dance floor. Many people helped to make my life better and enjoyable. It’s been a year filled with laughter and blessings and I am deeply grateful for everything and everyone.

So, please accept my empowering gift and look for more gifts coming your way on December 21, where we will give away Kindle copies of Let Your Goddess Grow!
Every Blessing,

Love to Learn

When my son graduated from the U.S.C. School of Music, Vince Mendoza, a famous composer and arranger, gave the commencement address.  He advised young musicians entering the music industry to always ‘practice and play positive.’ Have positive energy while creating music, he said, and if you are making music with gusto and love, you will not only translate the art form into something that uplifts humanity, but you’ll make the loudest mistakes. The best musicians are unafraid to put themselves out there 100%.  Finally, he reminded the graduates to have faith. Remember, the music is always in you. Always.

He also spoke about how important is to have an attitude of continuous learning in life. Without this humble attitude, a person can never be empowered to serve another human being, nor personally or spiritually grow. We teach our children the importance of a good education, going to school and the value of homework.  But learning is more than getting prepared for a better job or tomorrow – it’s a positive attitude about how we should view life.

Commit to Constant Improvement and Growth

We can showcase our capabilities simply for the joy of doing it, but also we must make a commitment to constant improvement. Life is a process and we can never really expect to reach perfection. Often, it is not the material that provides a personal growth lesson, but the context surrounding the learning.  Volunteer for an organization that teaches impoverished inner city kids to read. At the end of the day, you’ll find you learned far more from them then they did from you. Life is a big, reciprocal exercise and if we don’t put ourselves out there to learn something new, we will miss an opportunity to grow.

The possibility of what you can do keeps life interesting! To live a balanced life and feel empowered we must encourage others to learn, but also show we are not above making positive change. As adults, it is important to take a class. Test your limits to learn anything new. Develop your innate gifts that can help someone.  By doing so, you are helping to serve and uplift humanity.

Together, let’s:

  1. Show people that learning is about elevating the human condition. Learning, and improving your mind and heart, is about how we can better release our gifts to the world and serve humanity. Show your children you desire to challenge yourself in order to serve another human being. Teach them that learning and education is not all about making more money.
  2. Fill each day with enthusiasm, positivity, and hope for a better world.  All positive energy is contagious when you are committed to living life fully. Learning is a result of that process. You will experience life differently when your attitude is positive and hopeful. Teach others to see their challenges as opportunities, not obstacles.
  3. Be humble to the process. Whether you want to learn to dance, get a high school diploma, or complete your Ph.D., feel empowered by the process. Don’t be critical of yourself and feel you cannot learn fast enough than someone else.  You will always have your own rendition of every song, so sing with gusto and happiness. If you do, no matter what you learn, you will face your responsibilities with a sense of renewed joy and confidence.

We can trust life to show us what we need to learn but we must put effort into the process! Let’s affirm:

“When I look in the mirror, I see a person whose potential knows no boundaries. I am an example of a miracle and a work in progress. I engage in life robustly and wholeheartedly, without fear, knowing I contribute to the greater good of humanity.  My contribution is important because no one has my unique essence.  I love life, and love to learn.”

Become a life-long learner. Your desire to learn uplifts humanity and is vitally important to experiencing an empowered and balanced life.

Every Blessing,

Boredom

Each day is an opportunity to stretch the limits of my mind and give more to humanity. The unlimited universe now gives me room to grow in unlimited fashion. It is time for me to step outside my space and expand my world. I give to the world with excitement and love I have extra energy to find ways to channel my capabilities, through either this situation or another, and I am grateful that I have time to take mental, emotional, and spiritual inventory in order to improve myself and my attitude. New opportunities are coming to me now!

Life Passing Me By

I live in the present moment; therefore it is impossible to watch the past or the future. I am fully engaged in a present life experience. I am the center of experience; I watch nothing and experience everything. My presence on earth contributes to a beautiful mosaic of everyone. I leap into life with vigor and say yes to all life has to offer!

Local Author Takes Viewers on a Journey to Joy with New Cable Series

(Press Release) Bloomfield Hills, MI –October 6, 2011—Bloomfield Hills, Michigan native and best-selling author Charlene Proctor, Ph.D. will launch a new local series entitled “Your Journey to Joy” this November on Comcast On Demand.  She is the founder of The Goddess Network, an online community with thousands of supporters, which inspires women to lead authentic lives with confidence.  She is also a contributor on Lifetime Television’s The Balancing Act where she offers spiritual perspective on everyday life to millions of viewers.

Your Journey to Joy series is designed to help viewers search from within to look for what they need to create their own personal journey to joy and happiness. Viewers will be able to select from several lessons presented by the renowned author, researcher and educator who coaches and speaks on positive thinking, self-discipline and empowerment.

“Joy is a word that sounds wonderful, but is an illusion to many,” said Proctor.  “With my new series I will share some simple, easy ways to train your mind to help create the life and joy you desire.  It will be a different journey for everyone depending on where you are in your life.”

Proctor’s own journey has not been easy.  Prior to authoring several books on personal growth, self help and spirituality, the mother of two struggled with her then teenage son’s alcoholism and the toll it took on herself and her  family.    Proctor suffered from a debilitating back injury, depression and weight gain and began searching for a way to release her emotional suffering.  She traveled to Fiji and India to study at the Oneness University.  That experience led her to discover what true joy was and how she could translate it into her everyday life.  She took up ballroom dancing as an outlet and found she loved it and it loved her back.  She lost 32 pounds, healed from back surgery and went on to win numerous dance awards with her dance partner Blake Kish from the Fred Astaire Dance Studio in Bloomfield Hills.

“We all encounter tough times and challenges in life and I am so grateful to bring Your Journey to Joy to metro Detroiters.  I want to help my audience create positive change by taking charge of their own thinking,” said Proctor.  “Through greater self-awareness we are all empowered to find our joy no matter what obstacles we face.”

Your Journey to Joy series will be available on Comcast On Demand and Proctor’s website, www.charleneproctor.com, beginning in November.

Foreword by Rev. Dr. Charlene M. Proctor

Spiritual growth, says Sri Bhagavan, always begins where you are, not where you want to be. This is his favorite advice, which he gives spiritual seekers who travel to India and want to shed their past traumas so they can move forward in life with strength and dignity. His goal is to show people who seek a relationship with the Divine the joy of a life that is free from pain. I’ve been there. I know it is entirely possible to empty our bodily containers of fear, regret, worry, self-doubt, and old emotional programming and conditioning and live in the present moment. But we must make a conscious decision to stop clinging to our old stories and reliving them. If we want to experience true freedom, we must be willing to give up our suffering and let go of fear. There is no room for personal or spiritual growth when our lives are polluted by the agonies of the past.
