source through prayer. You can make positive changes through prayer when you learn how to tune into God on a regular basis.
Emmet Fox, a New Thought minister from the 1940’s, taught many people to focus on God’s qualities at the onset of any problem. Emmet’s spiritual wisdom in his book Alter Your Life is timeless, and steers us toward a higher state of awareness and positive results. This series continues to discuss his essay The Seven Main Aspects of God.

The Fifth Aspect: Soul
When you are asked to perform a task that seems too big, or are asked to step up to an overwhelming responsibility, it is time to contemplate on the aspect of God that is Soul. God individualizes himself in you. In other words, God is undivided in you without breaking separately into parts. You are not broken or fragmented parts of a bigger whole, but are the whole of God, in human version. God individualizes himself in human form, because he is infinite. He is a unit of consciousness in you. You are not separate from him. There is no separation at the spiritual level. It is an illusion.
You are a Reflection of God the Totality
If you were to break a dinner plate into many fragments with a hammer, each piece would make up the whole. Matter can be broken up, and a broken dinner plate is the sum of all its fragments. This is division, not individualization.
God, like a hologram, is himself in every image that is reflected from him. For example, a three-dimensional hologram is created by bouncing a laser beam of light off an object, then bouncing another laser beam off the reflected light of the first. The interference pattern (the area where the two beams come together) is captured on film. When the film is developed, and illuminated by another laser beam, a three-dimensional image of the original object appears.
What is remarkable is that if a hologram of a rose is cut in half and then illuminated by a laser beam, each half will still contain the entire image of the rose. If you divide that rose over and over again each film would contain an intact, although smaller, version of the rose. Every part of a hologram contains all the information possessed by the whole, implying the idea of separateness, is an illusion. We see a changing totality in our lives, but there is a self that is one. It is a vast, omnipresent, and endless self that dwells in all beings.
There is No Separation Between You and God
Oneness is our natural state of being. Nobody is separate from God because it is impossible in a unified universe. God cannot be separate from anything or anybody. You are an individualized piece of God. Many wisdom traditions call it the indwelling Christ, or the Christed self, or the I AM. It is the presence of God within you. This is what it means that the divine spark is in you.
To have the Christ light within, or ‘have Christ in you,’ means you have obtained that level of God consciousness. A Christed one is an enlightened person who has awakened to his or her own divinity and light. It is one who embodies a higher vibration to fully reflect God, in a vibrational sense. This state of being puts an individual in a complete harmonic state with the divine. It is a state of awareness where an individual consciously draws themselves back to unity with all creation and realizes that God’s own reflection exists in all humankind.
Christ consciousness (examples are Krishna and Buddha in other wisdom traditions) is the highest form of consciousness a human can express or experience. It is God firmly seated in your individual consciousness, such that you are aware of the presence of God within you, but it is not your individual ego thinking you are God. It is your awareness of your God essence. It is a vibratory state, an illuminated way of being and living. It is divinity projected from the inside. For Jesus, God’s reflection had fully manifested in him, and he knew he was inseparable from the divine. He projected a higher vibration, and he could bring others up to his vibratory level.
How to Raise Your Vibration
Raising your vibration to ‘take the higher road’ when you experience a negative situation is a choice. When you choose to express higher ideals in your daily life, you raise your vibration. You can choose to express more compassion, love, forgiveness, peace, kindness, maturity, or positive leadership. When you do, you are allowing a higher form of energy to be the guiding force behind your actions. Activated light emanates from your every glance, your every gesture. When you embody the vibration of higher consciousness you see yourself as God sees you. You are raising your vibration, because you see everyone and everything as God sees. This is a pure, awakened state based upon an understanding of the truth of who you are. You feel boundless.
It is important to work from the ‘inside out’ if you desire to make positive change in your life. Raising your vibration to attract better relationships and circumstances starts by changing your mental state. Anyone can raise their vibration if they desire inner growth, practice self-reflection, have positive intentions, and make a sustained effort.
Each day, learn to see life clearly. Be fully present in every situation. Focus on thoughts and words that carry the highest vibration. If you are not happy with what’s going on in the world, stop complaining on the social media and posting negative, rude, or verbally abusive commentary. Offer better and positive solutions to things that trouble you. Have intelligent discussions. Learn to connect with others. Be self-reflective. Use auspicious language and don’t allow your thoughts and words to turn into negative stories and illusions. These are the first steps to raising your vibration.
God’s Presence is Within You
‘Realizing the divine in you’ means you have awakened yourself to the idea that God has become conscious in you. Remember, God is experiencing the art of living through you. Therefore, God is your partner. You can choose to consciously co-create with God to improve your life. This means you have the awareness that God individualizes himself in you and allow this aspect to inform your decisions with regards to your work on the planet. Your work can be any number of things: music, selling shoes, governing, designing dresses, or simply helping others. If you choose to live an informed life, you recognize that you are an individualization of God, and therefore, God works through you. Knowing this, and practicing the idea, allows you to enter a higher category of work.
Remember, infinite intelligence is embedded in every particle of creation. Like the rose, God is a pure reflection of spirit in the created realm. If you are consciously aware of being the ‘sum total,’ you are everywhere at once. Therefore, your thoughts, actions, and words are quite powerful.
Daily Practice: Practicing the Presence of God as Soul
- Visualize the nature of God as Soul. Extend your awareness past your body, from all of humankind. Extend your awareness out of our solar system, and beyond the infinite realm. Realize
there is no thing (nothing) outside of this all-inclusive infinity. - Know that God is the one totality where every level of awareness, and all creation, is held.
- Know that you are eternally connected and dependent upon the whole; therefore, you are everything, and are one unified consciousness. Feel that sense of oneness with God, and see that God lives inside you. This is your soul.
- Claim that divine soul dwells in you and in anyone or any situation that you are concerned about. Claim that everybody has God within them. Know that everyone has a choice to express this.
- If you are experiencing a difficult relationship, affirm that divine truth is expressed through that being AND through you.
Successful Prayer
Be persistent and pray regularly. If a negative condition arises, turn back to this aspect and claim the presence of God is at work in your life. Raise your vibration every day and learn to rise above negativity. Claim that God is with you always, and works through you.
Awaken to the idea that God is experiencing life through you. You are part of a living system of interdependent systems of energies. When you raise your vibration, you are helping others do the same. Positive change will follow!
